This traditional clay is suitable for handbuilding or throwing. The reason this clay has been popular for so many generations is because it has excellent working characteristics, is easy to dry and fire. Terracotta clay fires orange to brown depending on firing temperature. In an electric kiln, it is soft orange at 1000℃. Darker red/ brown at 1100℃. Bisque Cone 06, 1000℃. Glaze Cone 06-01, (1000-1150℃.). Clay contains fine sand for added strength and workability at 50 mesh. Shrinkage rate Bisque 7%. Earthenware 8 %. Midfire 10%.
